New President of the High Constitutional Court of Egypt

 

 

The General Assembly of Judges of the High Constitutional Court of Egypt has unanimously approved, in July 1st, 2018,  the appointment of Dr. Ali Hanafi Jebali Counselor and first Vice-President of the High Constitutional Court, as new President, succeeding Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek Hassan reached by retirement age.

Councilor Hanafi Jabali was born on July 14, 1949, holds a Bachelor of Laws from Cairo University, and a Masters and Ph.D. from Ain Shams University.

 

Professionnal career :

-Councilor of State

-Assistant Counselor then Counselor in the instance of the Judge Rapporteur

-President the instance of the Judge-Rapporteur at the High Constitutional Court of Egypt

-Vice-President of the High Constitutional Court of Egypt since 2001

-Secretary General of the Union of Arab Constitutional Courts since 2011

It should be noted that the HCC of Egypt is a founding member of the CCJA and holds the position of Vice President.
